In 1970, the Travellers released their landmark children’s album The Travellers Sing For Kids. It was the first album of its kind. The Travellers had been doing concerts for children all through their career and a friend working for the American spoken word record company, Caedmon Records, asked the group to make a children’s recording. They assembled 100 kids in a recording studio and taught the kids the songs live during the recording. The album sold over 50,000 copies, an unheard of number in the Canadian music industry at that time
The album feels like a familiar classic, one that draws heavily on the late-Seventies sound Stapleton adores. If somebody tells me it sounds dated, I’d say that’s great, as long as the date is 1978. He said, ‘Man, country music is not for kids. And I don’t think it is, says Stapleton. I wanted to make a pretty grown-up record, meant for grown-ups to sit around and listen to.
Our "Action Song for Kids" is a funky and bouncy dance tune that introduces the action verbs "clap", "stomp", "swing", "dance", "sing", jump", "touch", and "shake". Young learners of English will also love this video, as it is easy to sing along (lots of lines are short and repeated often) and the words are written and acted out on the screen. Here are the lyrics to our Action Song: (Chorus) Naa, naa, naa I'm so happy Oh, so happy Dance/Sing with me (2x).
