All That Jazz was the last studio album by the American jazz singer Ella Fitzgerald. All That Jazz eschewed a tendency by Fitzgerald in past decades to record popular and commercial songs of the day, and instead concentrated on jazz standards from the Swing era, a period which some fifty years earlier had seen her begin her career in music. Fitzgerald's performance on this album won her the Grammy Award for Best Jazz Vocal Performance, Female, at the 33rd Grammy Awards

The results might sound more like one side of the equation with a touch of the other mixed in, or even approach R&B. Blues and jazz were rooted in the same African-American musical traditions in the first place, and they have always intersected enough that an absolute dividing line has never been a reasonable (or, to many listeners and musicians, desirable).

Jazz has changed greatly over the past 85 years and is presently in transition. Each volume contains a book and one or two recordings. Many professionals use these recordings to warm-up, keep in shape, practice new patterns or licks, or to learn new songs and improvise on the chord/scale progressions. During the past ten years, many private teachers as well as high school and college teachers have made the recordings part of their daily or weekly teaching assignments. Long before the printing press was invented people played music on various instruments and all were thought to be creative musicians. Through the ages the art of improvising on a musical instrument gradually lost favor to the printed page.
