Cheryl Bentyne (born January 17, 1954) is a jazz singer who spent much of her career with The Manhattan Transfer. Bentyne started singing at age thirteen with her father's Dixieland and swing band. Following graduation from Mount Vernon High School, she enrolled at Skagit Valley College and studied music and theater. She moved to Seattle in the mid 1970s and sang with John Holte's New Deal Rhythm Band. The NDRB trombonist Gary McKaig gave her an album by the Manhattan Transfer

The Manhattan Transfer's Cheryl Bentyne tries a solo album of pop standards, backed by rranger Mark Isham, and comes up with a winner. Bentyne sings both evergreens like the title track, "Fever," and Duke Ellington's "I Didn't Know About You," plus newer material, in a sensuous, smoky voice that sounds made for a late-night second set, and even with the somewhat modernistic backings Isham conceives, the songs have a traditional feel.
