In a sense it's kind of a sad album: these are the years Roy should've been raking in the dough and fame, since he'd laid the foundation for this kind of music years earlier, but it just never happened. Roy's jumpin' blues style with the wailing horns in the background and his own vibrant, exciting vocals screamed ROCK AND ROLL before there even was such a thing. AIN'T IT A SHAME, AIN'T NO ROCKIN' NO MORE, WORRIED LIFE BLUES, and MR. HOUND DOG'S IN TOWN are all excellent tracks, but the ultimate gut-wrenching, major highlight of the disc is QUEEN OF DIAMONDS, a snap-your-head-back killer, thanks to Roy's emotional vocal and the brilliant sax work of Philip Scott.

Roy James Brown (September 10, 1925 – May 25, 1981) was an American R&B singer, songwriter and musician, who had a pivotal influence on the early development of rock and roll by changing the direction R&B was headed in. His original song and hit recording " Good Rocking Tonight " was covered by Wynonie Harris, Elvis Presley, Bruce Springsteen, Ricky Nelson, Jerry Lee Lewis, Pat Boone, and the rock group Montrose
