Magic Sam’s Blues Album West Side Soul was released in 1967. This album is considered to be one of the greatest hits. Find more info at Guitar Control. His arrangement of Robert Johnson’s Sweet Home Chicago has become a Blues standard. Magic Sam was a master of the minor key Blues form and this is best demonstrated by the song All Your Love which is a centerpiece of the album.

A lovely two-tracker, ‘Eastern Promise’ gets my needle more often though. Rare for GLR-affiliated release to start with drums, but the snare makes it easy to mix and to throw the cross fader around should one fancy a bit of cutting in one’s mixing.

A fantastic release, one of the best of the late 90s intelligent/jazzy sound

What a classic progression sessions vol 1 track!!! (eastern promise) way back then this tune put intense on my radar for sure and I just wish GLO made some more tunes on diverse recordings if this was the template?! And Blame rinsed out west side blues on logical progression 2!

I just thought someone should really add a comment on West Side Blues - it's absolute class. Very jazzy back but with a hefty meldoic double bass style bassline that drives throughout - well worth checking out!
