Maria Is a Mystery" (Coe, Bolotin) - 3:32. Just in Time (To Watch Love Die)" (Coe, Jimmy Townsend) - 3:15.

Underground Album is Coe's follow-up to his 1978 album Nothing Sacred. The album was generally criticized as being profane, racist, and crude.

This is a detailed discography for American country music artist David Allan Coe. Coe started his career in 1970 on SSS International Records before signing with Columbia Records and staying with the label for 15 years. In the 1990s, he released albums through several independent labels such as his own DAC Records. Most of these releases have been reissued under different names and/or cannibalized for various compilations

These original Columbia recordings include "You Never Even Called Me by My Name," "The Ride," "Mona Lisa Lost Her Smile," "Willie, Waylon and Me," and "If That Ain't Country. Also featured are Coe's versions of several tunes that he wrote, but were made famous by others: "Would You Lay With Me (In a Field of Stone)" (Tanya Tucker) and "Take This Job and Shove It" (Johnny Paycheck). The one minor complaint about this set is the omission of "She Use to Love Me a Lot" and "Please Come to Boston.

While he was behind bars, Coe penned several songs that would be released on his 1969 debut album, the dark and crudely recorded Penitentiary Blues, which resurfaced in 2005 getting its first CD release. Coe was encouraged to write the songs, which detail stark prison life in such songs as Death Row, Oh Warden and Cell by the man in the cell next to him, soul singer Screamin’ Jay Hawkins. The next album from Coe, Once Upon a Rhyme, would give him the first of his three Top Ten hits. In the second verse of the tune, Coe namechecks – and does some pretty spot-on imitations of – Waylon Jennings, Charley Pride and Merle Haggard.

He is a one-in-a-million type of being. They don't make em' like my dad and David anymore. I've loved DAC for 40 years. He's the only artist I know of that no matter what genre of music you like he sings it. And maybe some you don't.
