Vanilla Fudge is an American rock band known predominantly for their extended rock arrangements of contemporary hit songs, most notably "You Keep Me Hangin' On". The band's original lineup-vocalist and organist Mark Stein, bassist and vocalist Tim Bogert, lead guitarist/vocalist Vince Martell, and drummer and vocalist Carmine Appice-recorded five albums during the years 1967–69, before disbanding in 1970.

The Beat Goes On (Atco Records 33-237/mono, SD 33-237/stereo) is the second album by the American psychedelic rock band Vanilla Fudge, released in early 1968. The album doesn't contain any real "songs", but rather a sound collage featuring many different elements: the voices of world leaders past and present, the band reciting pre-written mantras and reflections, and excerpts of songs (done "Vanilla Fudge style") by The Beatles and Sonny Bono.

As a covers album, 'Vanilla Fudge' is virtually unique in it's ability to breathe new life into classic songs whilst simulteneously overhauling them, and the group's penchant for muscular sounds would briefly make them one of the premier American acts of the late 1960's. Alongside San Diego's Iron Butterfly, Vanilla Fudge were forging a fresh new rock 'n' roll path that made much of the poppy and fey material of the previous ten years seem childish and lightweight in comparison.
