This is a pretty damn good sounding bootleg live record! Captures the raw live feel perfectly. And boy do those electronics sound grand. Speaker rumbling bliss, a very nice analog sound. The bass isn't as pronounced as the rest of the music but the low end is still a driving force that gives life to the music. The vocals are very reverb heavy but in my opinion, doesn't overwhelm. Sounds heavenly when those background vocals kick in. The sound is very powerful, full, dynamic, punchy and the music has great range and clarity for a live performance. You can even hear the crowd scream during certain parts of song. This recording has a very BIG, lively sound, almost sounds better than some of their studio albums, in my opinion. This is a really nice live Depeche Mode experience and in my opinion, contains some of their best material. I did notice with boosted treble, I could hear a light hiss during the quiet parts but it cannot be heard over the music and was corrected by adjusting the treble. This is also a decent pressing quality. Flat, centered, no surface noise, a stray click or pop here and there but hardly. I'm really enjoying this 3 LP set. I think it sounds great. Cool blue marble vinyl.

Agreed. I want to meet whoever made these boots. I'd like to see the 1993 Crystal Palace performance on vinyl... haha.

in comparison to more recent mode vinyl bootlegs available, I would say this boot is a complete snore fest. It may be from the World Violation tour but big deal...it is actually a rather dull performance and the sound is not perfect it lacks any ambiance. The more recent boots from 2013 onward are much better to have better sound better performances, the classic tracks like World In My Eyes, Enjoy The Silence, Personal Jesus are all played much much longer and better live in recent concerts than they are on this boot. As a fan of Mode was considering getting this but will likely pass. Would strongly recommend "The Italian Job" if you can find it. Complete show from 2017, audience + IEM mix so great mix of soundboard and audience for ambiance, great performance and also has their Bowie cover of Hero's...also triple vinyl and a much better boot than this

I think you're being slightly churlish? Given there was no official live release, it's possible as 90 as you will get from their classic era?

is there a story behind this bootleg? how long it has been available on vinyl?any clues on lineage of the source recording?

I have read that it was the only official soundboard recording of that tour. i got mine on ebay about 2 years ago. i also have a bootleg from the Pittsburgh stop of this tour but it sounds like somebody brought in a tape recorder and taped it from the lawn section of the pavillion.

Some comments below about this release having 'Cure' on the second record instead of Depeche Mode. )) http://forums.depechemode.com/forum/showthread.php?t=34225

The reverb is there because the soundboard mix was intended for the PA system in a large outdoor stadium. In 101, there's a scene near the end where Alan and the guy who handled the live sound (as opposed to the Westwood One Mobile recording used for the movie and album) talk about how, being in a (different) large outdoor stadium, they had to "keep wetting it" (adding more reverb) to get it to sound right live.

I'm not sure about that. The first download doesn't have any lineage listed. I think I've got an audience recording of this somewhere but the quality isn't very good.

Thanks! Is there a difference between the two megaupload shares? My experience: 6xURL (clicks & pops) vs 5xURL +pass (no clicks)Are they two different rips or the password protected one is a cleaned up version of the other one with (vinyl) noise reduction?

There's a link for the vinyl version in FLAC here http://www.depeche-mode-world.de/forum/ftopic1847.htmlI wonder what it would have sounded like without the reverb? Seems kind of strange to add it on.The lineage is stated as Lineage: 3x Vinyl LPs -> ripped using DC Magic Audio (unknown settings) -> Impulse Noise Reduction, right channel boosted 2dB, reverb added (unknown amount) -> .WAV -> FLAC level 8 -> you Ripper: vnvdeibel Mastering: michadm
