Calvin LeBrun, better known as Mister Cee or DJ Mister Cee (born August 17, 1966), is an American DJ, broadcaster, record producer, record executive and radio personality on New York's RADIO 10. LeBrun is best known as the DJ for rapper Big Daddy Kane during the late 1980s and early 1990s. He also served as an associate executive producer for the Notorious . s debut album, Ready to Die (1994).
Renowned New York DJ Mister Cee, who recorded the moment, recalled to MTV that while the Notorious . had some buzz after releasing Party and Bullshit, Tupac was the star, because the Janet Jackson-starring Poetic Justice had just come out. Of course, a few decades later, you’d be hard pressed to find a New York DJ willing to play through Tupac’s impassioned verse after Biggie’s, whose impossibly iconic WHERE BROOKLYN AT? has grown to become Brooklyn’s warcry. 10. Considered by many to be one of the greatest rappers of all time, The Notorious . was a major figure in both hardcore hip-hop and ’90s pop music until his murder in 1997 at age 24. He’s best known for his hits Hypnotize and Mo’ Money, Mo’ Problems, his top 10 hits One More Chance (Stay with Me Remix) and Big Poppa, and his iconic early single Juicy. He recorded a demo with local Bed-Stuy DJ 50 Grand, which caught the attention of Mister Cee, who was well-known as Big Daddy Kane’s DJ. Cee introduced his demo to the industry, landing him a spot in The Source’s coveted Unsigned Hype column in the magazine’s March 1992 issue.
