Anti-Flex takes an already existing flexi-disc and turns it into an art object by sanding down the grooves and further destroying it with spray paint all for noises sake. I am uncertain but for some reason I think Zebra Mu had lathe cut his own music into the existing grooves before sanding them down. Either way that would be cool idea wouldn't it mike? hint hint. Look out for a compilation of my Zebra Mu Anti record collection, sometime in the near future.

Zebra Mu ‎– Anti-Flex. Label: Quagga Curious Sounds ‎– QCS 032. A two minute recording of dragging glass across sandpaper was crudely lathe cut onto an existing flexi-disc; the disc was then physically altered by grinding down the surface with sandpaper and paint. The flexi-disc is packaged in a hand decorated recycled 7" card sleeve, black and white artwork is printed onto green card.

The equipment used was, says Mr. Mu, 'only a contact mic'd piece of glass and various effects pedals (which have been circuit bent!) All the tracks were made by me rubbing/hitting my face and hands over the glass surface as well as using an assortment of power tools/other sharp objects on the glass as well!'

Experimental noise and performance project of UK-based multimedia artist Michael Ridge. Circuit bent/hacked electronics, contact microphones, telephone pick-up coils, tape loops and field recordings are commonly used sound sources in recordings.
