Live In London will hopefully be the last of the Tim "Ripper" Owens-led Judas Priest outings. As of this writing in January 2004, the classic Priest lineup of vocalist Rob Halford, lead guitarist Glenn Tipton, lead guitarist . Downing, bassist Ian Hill, and drummer Scott Travis are back in action and planning to record to and tour. This is an acceptable date featuring two CDs of classic Priest tracks and video footage, but even though it is an inspired performance, it lacks the sheer outrageousness of the Halford-led band.

Both CDs also includes video extracts taken from 'Live In London' DVD. Recorded on The Sanctuary Mobile at The Brixton Academy, London on 19th December, 2001. Mixed at Sphere Studios, London. Other Versions (3 of 3) View All. Cat.

98 Live Meltdown is a concert album by Judas Priest, recorded and released in 1998 and is the first live album to feature new lead singer Tim "Ripper" Owens, recorded during the Jugulator Tour. A second live album featuring Owens, Live in London, was released in 2003. Tim "Ripper" Owens – vocals. Downing – guitar. Glenn Tipton – guitar. Ian Hill – bass guitar. Scott Travis – drums. Produced and mixed by Judas Priest and Sean Lynch. Engineered by Will Shapland.

Fact is, I love Judas Priest. I have every record they ever made, including a few bootlegs and the remasters box. Does that mean I have to swallow shit and praise anything they release? Oh no, 2001’s Demolition was nothing but pure rubbish, and it made Jugulator a killer CD in comparison – just like this Live In London can not stand tall next to the killer live CD from 98, 98 Live Meltdown. This is a redundant piece of laser, that no-one needs. First of all, I firmly believe that whatever Judas Priest (meaning; Ian Hill, Glenn Tipton and KK Downing) do nowadays, it is all to kill time.

Live in London’s Judas Priest was: - Timothy S. Owens ~ Vocals - Kenneth Downing Jr. ~ Lead Guitar - Glenn Raymond Tipton ~ Lead Guitar - Ian Frank Hill ~ Bass Guitar - Scott Travis ~ Drums. 26 tracks this time around, which makes for a long listen of more than 2 hours. In contrast to ’98 Live Meltdown, the band has obviously got more Owens-era tracks to play, but only 5 in total made it to the set list. Though the repetition of the songs does not so much detract from the quality of the album in itself, Judas Priest really seem to have lost the ability to surprise and amaze, and that is a mistake that is far too often made with live recordings. Seeing the show is nice enough, but a band will have to put out something special to continue to entertain on record. Seeing is more than hearing.
