The Jim Yoshii Pile-Up is a 5 piece band formed in 1997 in Oakland, California. Named after a high school friend of the band, their highly textured sound spans the range from indie to post-rock. They have released three full lengths on Absolutely Kosher Records. As of 2006, the band is on hiatus. The band includes leadsinger Paul Gonzenbach, drummer Ryan Craven, bassist Frankie Koeller and on guitat both Noah Blumberg and Ian Connelly.

This band comes across as so mellow that when the guitars are distorted and the vocalist attempts to yell out more than just a half-hearted whine - which he does on about 80-percent of this five-song EP - the Jim Yoshii Pile-Up still manages to resemble something one might put on before going to sleep. This EP is quiet, easygoing, and laid-back, while emotional and heartfelt at the same time, without crossing that line of melodrama.
