In 2002, DJ Paul released his debut solo studio album Underground Volume 16: For Da Summa. Most of the songs, originally featured on his 1994 mixtape Underground Volume 16: 4 Da Summa of '94, were remastered and some of the old featured artists were replaced with new ones from Hypnotize Minds, such as Frayser Boy and La Chat.

In subsequent years, Jay has claimed that Vol. 1 could have been a classic, if he hadn’t chased radio airplay: What I did with ‘ Volume One’ was I tried to make records. I had just made ‘Reasonable Doubt. t wasn’t successful in music industry terms, it was a cult classic on the streets, but it wasn’t successful in the music business and I tried to blend the two. If you look back on ‘In My Lifetime,’ there were songs on there that were brilliant.

Musique Vol. 1 1993–2005 is an anthology by Daft Punk released in Japan on 29 March 2006, in the United Kingdom on 3 April 2006, and in the United States on 4 April 2006. The name of the album comes from "Musique", a song that was initially released as the B-side to "Da Funk".

Now That's What I Call Music!, Vol. 3 continues to prove that Universal/EMI's long-standing British series of Top 40 hits compilations (of which this particular volume is not a part) can be just as successful in America. There isn't anything tying these singles together musically, except for the fact that they were hits, but all in all, it makes for a pretty entertaining and diverse snapshot of pop music circa the turn of the millennium.
