Emmett Finley ‎– Emmett Finley. Label: Poison Ring Records ‎– PRR 2241. Emmett Finley's album is more rocking out than Wonderling, but on some quieter tracks they are amazingly similar. Both are those rare recordings that can make mainstream rock fans digging for obscure collectables. Some songs here go to very unique places; 'Gospel' is one of the most strange and beautiful tracks I know.

A really unique and haunting record that has not been widely discovered. It is one of the few albums that exists in the small circle of 'loner rock' in my perception. Other records in that corner are Eddie Callahan, Ken Rhoten and the now legendary John Wonderling. There are some clear similarities to 'Day Breaks'; I hear a definite Bowie influence on both, don't know if this is intentional. Amazingly, it also sounds all very professional and modern, some parts remind me of Blur, others of Mercury Rev. Even the cover shot of him is strange as he really looks like Cobain. A record that gets better the more you listen to it. Definitely worthy of a reissue. Grab it as long as it is affordable, could be in Wonderling league someday when enough people have discovered it.
