Curtis is the debut album by American soul musician Curtis Mayfield, released in September 1970. Produced by Mayfield, it was released on his own label Curtom Records. The musical styles of Curtis moved further away from the pop-soul sounds of Mayfield's previous group The Impressions and featured more of a funk and ed sound. The album's subject matter incorporates political and social concerns of the time.

Curtis Harding (born June 11, 1979) is an American singer and songwriter. Primarily a soul artist, his "slop 'n' soul" style carries the influence of genres including blues, gospel, psychedelia, R&B, and rock. His first album, Soul Power (2014), was followed by Face Your Fear in 2017, with production from Danger Mouse and Sam Cohen. He was born in Saginaw, Michigan, and his family settled in Atlanta when he was a teenager.

His soulful, gospelised group the Impressions had topped the R&B charts and crossed over to score pop hits, moving confidently from honeyed love songs such as Gypsy Woman to powerful anthems that scored the civil rights struggle: Keep on Pushing, We’re a Winner and, finest of them all, People Get Ready. Mayfield’s second solo album, 1971’s Roots, was awash with hopeful paeans to peace, and this lush glide of a track only just pips the psychedelic delirium of We’ve Got to Have Peace as the LP’s most impressive reverie.
