I stumbled across the legendary John Robbins and his retarded Welsh assistant Ellis whilst listening to XFM. Right then I knew I’d found a kindred spirit. Fan of the greatest rock band in the history of music, appreciator of the session ale, lover of The Great Gatsby & under appreciated and ahead of his time during those dark days of youth. It was a mere guarantee that Johns stand up would tick all the boxes. Fast, witty and intelligently funny.

Paul Allender 's playing on Thornography, the new Cradle Of Filth album, is both a nod at tomorrow and a bow towards yesterday. He exalts the work of his predecessors, Iron Maiden and Judas Priest, and yet he never sat down to learn their licks. He is an unschooled player but trying to define his style as something new, something adventurous. The guitars on the new album are edgy and yet somehow emotionally-fueled; the parts come across as full of fire and finesse. Allender has a big guitar sound and big sense of humor. com: How do you describe the way you use your guitar as a tool in the band? Paul Allender: Basically the way I use it is really quite hard to explain. It's obviously all to create what I need to create musically, what I'm sort of picturing in my head and stuff. I've spoken to loads of guitarists, especially when I went to NAMM.

Paul Allender is the guitarist of the British extreme metal band Cradle of Filth. Early life Paul Allender was born on 17 November 1970 in Colchester, Essex, UK. At the age of six years old, his father introduced him to martial arts which led to a total way of life for him and the home which he grew up in. He received his first guitar at the age of fourteen and played in staggered periods until he was nineteen years old because his martial arts training was always his first priority. While performing on stage with Cradle of Filth at the Bloodstock Open Air music festival in the UK in August 2009, Paul suffered an injury, thought to be on his lower back, from a gobstopper thrown by someone in the audience. This caused him (and the band) to end the performance early. Graphic art Paul also has an art side project known as Vomitorium: The Dark Art Of Cindy Frey And Paul Allender.
