Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons. Big Girls Don't Cry & Other Hits.

Sherry & 11 Others is the debut album by The Four Seasons, released by Vee-Jay Records under catalog number LP-1053 as a monophonic recording in 1962 and later in stereo under catalog number SR-1053 the same year. Stay and Other Great Hits (1964). 4 Seasons Entertain You (1965). Working My Way Back to You and More Great New Hits (1966). On Stage with The Four Seasons (1965).

The album was a commercial failure and symbolized the end of the Four Seasons' first period of success. The appreciation of The Genuine Imitation Life Gazette has grown over the years, and it was re-released on CD (minus the newspaper cover) in the 1990s by Rhino in the . and Ace in the UK. Gaudio and Holmes also wrote and produced Frank Sinatra's 1969 album Watertown. The songs became big hits for a reconstituted Four Seasons group (only Valli was left of the original lineup; Gaudio stopped touring with them in 1971 to concentrate on writing and producing). a b Marchese, Joe (11 June 2014). After launching their tenure on Philips Records with the folk collection Born to Wander, the Four Seasons returned only one month later with a pop album patterned after their earlier Vee Jay LPs, which is to say a set of doo wop covers filling out an album keyed to a current hit single. In this case, the hit was "Dawn (Go Away)," which would have been a number one hit if it hadn't been for the Beatles, who had a lock on the top of the charts.

The Four Seasons charted a series of hits for Vee-Jay Records in 1962 and 1963, but then switched to Phillips Records, which probably kept their next record, early 1964's "Dawn (Go Away)," from hitting number one since Vee-Jay retaliated against their defection by re-releasing their cover of "Stay" within a couple of weeks of the appearance of "Dawn," thus. putting two Four Seasons singles in the marketplace at the same time. Stay" got into the Top 20, while "Dawn" fell a couple of rungs short of the pinnacle. Like songs of the 1920s and '30s, it had an introductory verse, albeit a very short one of only a couplet (omitted on the version found on the album Dawn (Go Away) and 11 Other Great Songs). Then came the first six-line refrain, followed by a four-line bridge, another six-line refrain, and four repetitions of the title into a fadeout.

The Four Seasons (known off and on since 1967 as Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons), are an American pop and rock group, distinct from many similar groups of the early to mid-1960s for its high-pitched lead singing and creating street-corner harmonies, reminiscent of doo wop. In 1960, the group known as The Four Lovers evolved into The Four Seasons, with Frankie Valli as the lead singer. With songs like "Sherry," "Big Girls Don't Cry," and "Walk Like a Man," the Four Seasons burst onto the scene with an unprecedented series of number one hits. It was the first Four Seasons album to feature lead vocals by singers other than Valli. Gerry Polci did the majority of the lead vocals, sharing them with Valli and Don Ciccone. 1964: Dawn (Go Away) and 11 Other Great Songs. 1964: Folk Nanny (later renamed Stay & Other Great Hits). 1964: More Golden Hits of The Four Seasons.
