The Rutles is a soundtrack album to the 1978 telemovie All You Need Is Cash. The album contains 14 of the tongue-in-cheek pastiches of Beatles songs that were featured in the film. The primary creative force of the Rutles' music was Neil Innes, the sole composer and arranger of the songs.
With all due respect to the collective genius involved in the Spinal Tap saga, it is safe to say no other artists have been able to repeat or re-create the delicate balance exhibited in the Rutles' multimedia parody. This venture included a made-for-television mockumentary titled All You Need Is Cash. On this 1990 CD release, the contents of the original 1978 soundtrack - which incidentally bore the same name as the show - are included, as are an additional half-dozen recordings made for the film, but ultimately became victims of the time limitations inherent in the vinyl medium

The Rutles - Get Up And Go (Early rehearsal take). An early take of Get Up And Go by the Rutles. It sounds quite different from the final take, and I like this one better - because the final take is almost an exact copy of "Get Back", and this version has a different melody and intro. 25 September 2009 ·. THE RUTLES - Goose-Step Mama (1962). Extremely rare footage from The Cavern, Liverpool 1962.
A soundtrack album entitled The Rutles containing 14 tongue-in-cheek pastiches of Beatles songs was also released. Much of the material on these releases comes from 1978 rehearsal tapes, or from the Rutland Weekend Television soundtrack LP, as well as a lot of rare Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band and Neil Innes solo material. Also of note: "Cheese & Onions"-the version heard on Saturday Night Live-made its way onto several Beatles bootleg albums, as an unreleased John Lennon demo.
Rutles - The Rutles Anthology Blu-Ray/DVD Blu-ray. The Rutles - All You Need is Cash DVD. Dan Aykroyd. Sadly, Innes didn't have the funds to fight the lawsuit and while it doesn't state that the songs here are written by Innes, Lennon & McCartney, the songwriting royalities are split between Innes and ATV/Sony

Many songs introduced by excerpts of dialogue from the film All You Need Is Cash.
In December 1970 Dirk sued Stig and Nasty; Barry sued Dirk; Nasty sued Stig and Barry; and Stig sued himself accidentally. It was the end of an era. However, amid squabbles and lawsuits, the band were recording a new album. The project was abandoned and the master tapes were buried.
As was reported at the time, all of the tapes were placed in a time capsule and buried in a secret location. Announcing that action, a spokesman for The Rutles stated that this was "to thwart bootleggers. And tax authorities." Furthermore, the capsule would "stay buried for a thousand years." He added that the album wouldn’t be released unless it was "discovered by archaeologists or whoever digs these things up."
This led to Rutles fans dubbing the interred recordings the ‘Archaeology’ tapes.
As all fans know, the basis of the Rutles’ new album Archaeology are the famous "Archaeology Tapes". These tapes were rehearsal tapes from early Rutles recording sessions in the 1960’s, and included several songs that were never released. thuogh to be buried These tapes were found by Barry’s dog in a shed in 1995, and the rest is archaeology.
Somehow, the original "Archaeology Tapes" have leaked out to the bootleggers, and are now reportedly available for the first time ever on a bootleg CD called Sweet Rutle Tracks.
Besides the tracks that were used and enhanced on Archaeology, the rehearsal tapes include "live" rehearsal versions of all of the Rutles’ big hits. In addition, the tapes include the rehearsal of one Nasty/McQuickly song still as yet unreleased called Plenty Of Time.
