Philip Glass - Solo Music album flac

Solo Piano (1989) is an album of piano music composed and performed by Philip Glass. It was produced by Kurt Munkacsi. The title of five of the seven tracks, "Metamorphosis", refers to and was inspired by the 1915 novella The Metamorphosis by Franz Kafka. While all pieces were written in 1988, some were written for a staging of Metamorphosis, while others were for a documentary film called The Thin Blue Line directed by Errol Morris.

Solo Music ‎(LP, Album). Beautiful album of early minimalism from Glass and possibly his best (in my opinion). I like the sheer harsh brutality of this one. Unbelievably gaunt and severe record which will definitely alienate and infuriate lightweight listeners. But by the time Glass sat down to record these piano pieces, he’d already begun to stray beyond the hardcore tenets of minimalism that he had helped develop in the '70s. His experience with operatic writing is clear throughout: The gorgeously lyrical Wichita Sutra Vortex (whose namesake is an Allen Ginsberg poem) became a staple of the contemporary repertoire shortly after this album was issued.
