Bob Lind (born Robert Neale Lind, November 25, 1942 in Baltimore, Maryland, United States) is an American folk music singer-songwriter, who helped define the 1960s folk rock movement in America and England. Lind is best known for his transatlantic hit record, "Elusive Butterfly", which reached number 5 on both the US and UK charts in 1966. In October 2012, 41 years after the release of his last studio album, Lind issued a critically acclaimed CD of new music: Finding You Again, produced by veteran rock guitarist Jamie Hoover of the Spongetones and released by Ace Records . World Pacific Records. Photographs of Feeling. The Elusive Bob Lind. Verve Folkways Records.
That same year, RPM Records re-issued the album Since There Were Circles, and Lind self-released the Live at Luna Star album featuring performances of new material. In 2007, Ace Records (UK) released Elusive Butterfly: The Complete 1966 Jack Nitzsche Sessions. The British band, Pulp, have a song named after him: "Bob Lind (The Only Way Is Down)", from their album, We Love Life "We've Never Spoken". San Francisco Woman".
Bob Lind – Rest in Peace. I have to imagine that just about every Western States runner of the past 40 years has a Dr. Lind story. The truth is, this amazing man was a fixture at the race for decades and his work as a physician studying the impact of long distance running on the human body was transformational. The first time I met Dr. Lind was at Dusty Corners (mile 38) at Western States in 2001. I stumbled into the aid station already feeling the effects of the heat and promptly dropped into a chair. Dr. Lind came over to me and, noticing my salt encrusted singlet, encouraged me to get some fluids down and handed me a cup of chicken broth. I drank it and immediately started feeling better.
Bob Dylan is the debut studio album by American singer-songwriter Bob Dylan, released on March 19, 1962 by Columbia Records. Produced by Columbia's legendary talent scout John H. Hammond, who signed Dylan to the label, the album features folk standards, plus two original compositions, "Talkin' New York" and "Song to Woody".
Primo folk rock, with appearances from Gene Clark, Doug Dillard, and Bernie Leadon. A beautiful album with the always magnificent arranging what is probably the birth of baroque folk. 7 months ago. Bob Lind - "Elusive Butterfly" (1966) Originally the b-side of Lind's debut single, this song became a smash. A hit follow-up proved elusive. Some of the sixties' best session musicians play on this track, including Leon Russell on piano.
The song Bob Lind (The Only Way Is Down) can be found on Pulp‘s last studio album We Love Life, an underrated album in my opinion but we shall leave a critique of that for another day. To some who do know the name Bob Lind they consign him to the one hit wonder bracket as he only had one bona fide hit single, Elusive Butterfly making it to number 5 in the UK and US charts in 1966. At that time he was even being touted as the new Dylan but it transpired he would not emulate such success
