Deep Purple (Deep Purple album). Deep Purple, also referred to as Deep Purple III, is the third studio album by the English rock band Deep Purple, released in June 1969 on Tetragrammaton Records in the United States and only in September 1969 on Harvest Records in the United Kingdom. Its release was preceded by the single "Emmaretta" and by a long tour in the UK, whose dates were interspersed between the album's recording sessions.

Our aim is only to include reliable, confirmed news and stories, avoiding rumour as much as possible. Joe Satriani's short spell in Deep Purple is often overlooked as a bona-fide line-up of the band, partly because no studio work was done, and also as the temporary nature of his tenure was often emphasised by both parties, particularly afterwards. But, there can be no doubt that Joe contributed a great deal to the revitalisation of the band, and helped pave the way for the following ten years. Ian Gillan, Ian Paice, Joe Satriani, Roger Glover, Jon Lord.
The following is the discography of Deep Purple, an English rock band. Formed in 1968 by Jon Lord, Ian Paice, Rod Evans, Ritchie Blackmore, and Nick Simper, Deep Purple released their debut album, Shades of Deep Purple, in July of that year. They have undergone many changes of personnel over the years, and today Ian Paice is the only member from the original line-up still with the band. The other members currently are Ian Gillan, Roger Glover, Steve Morse and Don Airey.
Actually, Deep Purple was highly prized for many years by fans of progressive rock, and for good reason. The group was going through a transition - original lead singer Rod Evans and bassist Nick Simper would be voted out of the lineup soon after the album was finished (although they weren't told about it until three months later), organist Jon Lord and guitarist Ritchie Blackmore having perceived limitations in their work in terms of where each wanted. And between Lord's ever-greater ambitions toward fusing classical and rock and Blackmore's ever-bolder guitar attack, both of which began to coalesce with the session for Deep Purple in early 1969, the group managed to create an LP that combined heavy metal's early, raw excitement, intensity, and boldness with progressive rock's complexity and intellectual scope, and virtuosity on.

Deep Purple is the last album created and released by Deep Purple’s first (mk 1) lineup: Jon Lord (keyboards, backing vocals, percussion, orchestra arrangement). Ritchie Blackmore (guitars). This album is also the last one to show a significant leadership by keyboard player Jon Lord, who would infuse his goal to merge rock and classical music on several levels of this record’s music. Blind features very baroque-reminiscent harpsichord chromatic progressions and April is a full concert with choir and small orchestra, arranged by Lord.
Go beat Deep Purple when it comes to inventing metal and metal subgenres, and using advanced metal techniques in every area - vocals, drumming, guitars. Lars Ulrich of Metallica attended one of the DP shows in Copenhagen, Denmark (he was 9-10) and was mesmerized by this double bass on Fireball (he saw such thing for the first time). Should totally be ranked higher. The studio version is amazing and Deep Purple always used this to end their live shows where they would stretch it out to 20 minutes. Top five without a doubt. Simply a fun, jammin' rocking' tune. When the band reformed in '84 each member picked their favourite DP song for a Radio One special and this was Jon's choice - and he knew a thing or two about music! Perhaps it takes more time to appreciate than some songs but it's worth the effort.
