Main articles: Floor (album) and Dove (Floor album). Initially from Miami, Floor was formed in 1992 by Steve Brooks (guitar), Anthony Vialon (guitar/bass) and Betty Monteavaro (drums). Jeff Sousa became the drummer in late 1993, and Brooks and Vialon changed their sound by implementing two uniquely low-tuned guitars, forgoing the need of a bassist. Material was recorded for two full-length albums (Dove 1994, Saturnine and Tears 1995) but neither were released until after their eponymous album years later.

What makes Dove interesting is that it shows how, even in their early, more elemental days, Floor still possessed an ear for pop melody, with "Figure It Out" acting as a hint for what the band would eventually grow into. In contrast to the band's self-titled effort, Dove certainly isn't essential listening, but for the initiated, it definitely makes for an interesting look back at one of underground metal's most woefully underappreciated bands.

Despite the album's shortcomings with the final two lengthy tracks, Dove is a masterpiece of doom/sludge metal. If you love screeching distortion and feedback and crushingly brutal slabs of riffs, Floor is up there with the best and is definitely an essential listen. Dove is the second studio album by American sludge metal band Floor released in 2004 on the No Idea Records label. The songs on the album were recorded in 1994, before the release of their debut album, Floor in 2002 and were only released ten years later after the positive response the band received to their debut album. As with other Floor compositions the album was recorded without a bass guitar and makes extensive use of heavily down tuned guitars.
