I would like to advise everyone on The Darlings Downs of Yesteryear that I am stepping down as Admin of this page. I would like to take the opportunity to thank everyone for their years of support as I have worked to bring you the best historical recaps and photographs of the area.

The Darling Downs released two critically acclaimed albums, How Can I Forget This Heart Of Mine? (2005) and From One To Another (2007). After a spell working on other projects, in 2012 Kim and Ron began writing new songs and went back into the studio and record a third album of new material, called In The Days When The World Was Wide to be released in June 2013. Kim says: Ron would say of this album that we’ve moved away from the Appalachias in the 1940s to Greenwich Village in the 1960s. There is a whole lot more Simon and Garfunkel here than before.

The Darling Downs are west of the Dividing Range, extending to a plain reaching to Miles and Goondiwindi. It is a complex region and is described in more detail below. Another source thought the figure was . million acres, an indication of the difficulty of ascertaining the westerly reach of the Downs. A railway was built from there down the range to Ipswich during 1865-66, from where goods could be transferred to the Bremer and Brisbane Rivers.
