Northcote Outsider is Winnipeg hardcore band Comeback Kid's sixth studio album.

Comeback Kid is a Canadian hardcore punk band from Winnipeg, Manitoba. Their name comes from a headline in a newspaper about hockey player Mario Lemieux coming back to the NHL. The band was formed in 2000 by Andrew Neufeld and Jeremy Hiebert who were both members of the band Figure Four, which is currently on hiatus. They were joined by their friends Scott Wade and Kyle Profeta, but CBK was originally intended only to be a side project.

Comeback Kid Outsider (Nuclear Blast, New Damage Records). Hardcore heavyweights Comeback Kid have entered the ring of music again with their sixth studio album Outsider. Now before we dive in, know that Comeback Kid always hit hard. While they’ve slightly altered their form, and display, the style is still there. It’s not going to be Turn It Around, Wake The Dead or Broadcasting. Still CBK all the way, but they’ve spiced up their sound and threw some wild cards in as well.

Outsider sees COMEBACK KID changing things up a little bit. There’s still plenty of their trademark sound here, the title track opens things with but this time round a bigger focus has been place on melody. The album is packed with some of the biggest choruses COMEBACK KID have ever come up with. This gives the album a more fun vibe than what COMEBACK KID have had before. That’s not to say the album is lacking in aggression. One of the biggest strengths of Outsider is just how varied it can be. On this album COMEBACK KID have pulled ideas from several different styles and genres. While it’s roots are still very much in hardcore there’s a lot more going on. Somewhere Somehow has a chorus that feels like it could be a radio rock song. There is also a punk rock attitude all over Outsider, Andrew Neufeld snarling delivery is a huge part of this.
