The Cure is the twelfth studio album by British alternative rock band the Cure. The album was released on 29 June 2004 by record label Geffen, and promoted with the single "The End of the World". The album was entirely produced by American producer Ross Robinson, known for his work with bands like Korn, Slipknot, and Limp Bizkit
Later that year, the group released the non-LP singles "Boys Don't Cry" and "Jumping Someone Else's Train. That same year, the Cure embarked on a major tour with Siouxsie and the Banshees. At the same time, the Cure added a keyboardist, Mathieu Hartley, and wrapped up production on the band's second album, Seventeen Seconds, which was issued during the spring of 1980. The addition of a keyboardist expanded the group's sound, was which now more experimental and often embraced slow, gloomy dirges. Nevertheless, the band still wrote pop hooks, as demonstrated by the group's first . hit single, "A Forest," which peaked at number 31. After the release of Seventeen Seconds, the Cure launched its first world tour.
It's not a perfect record, but "The Cure" does achieve something quite remarkable and unexpected.
Weeks before the release of ‘The Cure,’ Smith talks about his musical preferences, from heavy metal to En Vogue. Just weeks before the Cure are set to release their quite excellent thirteenth studio album, simply titled The Cure, Robert Smith is still tweaking it. I got up at about nine in the morning here in England and just directed things over the phone for eight hours with the studio people in New York, says Smith, 45. I’d use the Internet, like our producer Ross Robinson does, but I live in a grungy part of the country and I have a bad dial-up connection. During that time, a number of alternative bands have come out of the closet and expressed their adamant devotion to the group. Several of them will be opening for the band this summer on the inaugural Curiousa Festival 2004 tour, including the Rapture, Interpol, Thursday and Cursive.
This sense of peace carries over into the modest and modestly titled The Cure, which contains the most comfortable music in the band's canon - which is hardly the same thing as happy music, even if this glistens in contrast to the deliberate goth classicism of Bloodflowers. Where that record played as a self-conscious effort to recreate the band's gloomy heyday, this album is the sound of a band relaxing, relying on instinct to make music.

The Cure frontman was about to step outside the door of his parent’s house in Crawley, West Sussex, and away from the goth-rock troupe he had led to unlikely success across the previous six years. The album that carried reggae music to the four corners of the Earth and made Bob Marley an international superstar also set the political tone for many artists to follow. Marley sang of life where the living is hardest in Concrete Jungle and looked back to Jamaica’s ignoble slaving past – No chains around my feet but I’m not free. He packed the album with beautiful melodic numbers, such as High Tide and Low Tide, and rhythmic dance tracks like Kinky Reggae. At the time of its release, it was the fastest-selling LP of all time; its success turned Fleetwood Mac into a cultural phenomenon. RO. 39/40 Are You Experienced?
