Heli Yuweli marks Souleyman’s follow-up to the Bahdeni Nami album for Monkeytown Records with a return to his earlier, rawer, driving sound - sans interference from Four Tet, Gilles Peterson et al - to stretch out with 8 minutes of propulsive wedding techno rhythm and microtonal synth riffs. On the flip, Rezzett’s remix souses the original in cold tape distortion for a saltier, strung-out bounce, found even more bitten and bittersweet in a thumping Rerezz.
