New York Dolls - Live In NYC - 1975: Red Patent Leather album flac

Red Patent Leather is a 1984 live album by the earlier disbanded New York Dolls. It was recorded in New York a decade earlier, in March 1975, just a month before the group broke up while on tour in Florida. The New York performance was recorded at the "Little Hippodrome" club. The shows were the last performed by the group in New York, and as such, they made the small, unusual venue famous. The venue itself closed later that same year

This concert LP features one of the last live shows to include the New York Dolls' lineup with Jerry Nolan (drums) and Johnny Thunders (guitar). Less than a month later both would call it quits and the band would ultimately fold after their departure. The Dolls were fixtures in the Big Apple's burgeoning punk scene and this May 2, 1975, show at the Little Hippodrome is the perfect setting for this raw and passionate set. The band's brash and boozy attack perfectly animates a repertoire containing precious little from their own back catalog.

Recorded live March 2, 1975 at the Little Hippodrome Club in New York City. This album is dedicated to the members of the New York Dolls who have passed away: Jerry Nolan, Johnny Thunders and Billy Murcia. The first 11 songs were first released as Red Patent Leather in Europe on vinyl in 1984. Stranded In The Jungle' was recorded at the same Little Hippodrome show but is heard here for the first time. Trash', 'Chatterbox' and 'Puss N' Boots' were recorded at the Bataclan in Paris on December 23, 1973.

Since there was no official 3rd Dolls album this is the next best thing, as the first 7 songs were intended for the 3rd release, and this is the only known recording of them. The sound quality is'nt THAT bad, by bootleg standards anyway, and is certainly listenable. The rest of tracks are useless as better versions exist elsewhere, but definately worth getting for the first 7. The awesome cover photo alone is almost worth the price!
