There's a sob on every breeze And a sigh comes from the trees And the mocking birds they sing a sadder way For the flowers creep no more Round my cheerless cabin door Where the silver Colorado wends its way. The silver snow is gleaming On your distant mountainside Where often used to wander Nell and I And the birds are singing gaily In the valley far below Where I long some day to lay me down and die.
Ain't No Love in the Heart of the City" is a 1974 R&B song, written by Michael Price and Dan Walsh, and first recorded by Bobby Bland for the ABC Dunhill album Dreamer. While Bland scored a minor hit with the song, landing in the top ten of the R&B charts, it is perhaps best known through cover versions and samples.
There’s a sob on every breeze And a sigh comes from the trees And the mocking birds they sing a sadder way For the flowers creep no more Round my cheerless cabin door Where the silver Colorado wends its wa.
Wends (Old English: Winedas; Old Norse: Vindr; German: Wenden, Winden; Danish: vendere; Swedish: vender; Polish: Wendowie) is a historical name for Slavs living near Germanic settlement areas. It does not refer to a homogeneous people, but to various peoples, tribes or groups depending on where and when it is used. In the Middle Ages the term "Wends" often referred to West Slavs and Slovenes living within the Holy Roman Empire, though not always.
