Stormbringer is the ninth studio album by the English hard rock band Deep Purple, released in November 1974. The cover image of Stormbringer is based on a photo. On 8 July 1927 a tornado near the town of Jasper, Minnesota was photographed by Lucille Handberg. The same photograph was used for Miles Davis' album Bitches Brew in 1970 and Siouxsie and the Banshees' album Tinderbox in 1986.

Rainbow (also known as Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow or Blackmore's Rainbow) are a British rock supergroup led by guitarist Ritchie Blackmore, active from 1975 until 1984, 1993 until 1997, and 2015 until present. They were originally established with Ronnie James Dio's American rock band Elf, but after their first album, Blackmore fired the backing members and continued with Dio until 1979.

Very useful lesson! It is an integral part of Blackmore's playing. I learnt it with 3 fingers then years later I realized Blackmore usually does it with two (first and the third). What kind of Stratocaster you use, I can see that it has scalloped fingerboard and I don't think this is Yngwie Malmstin, so what is this ? Michael Faasen. I think the blackmore sound started to be unique when he started to use the scalloped necks.

In Blackmore’s defense, though, he did manage to ride the Deep Purple experience through three different line-ups of the band (that’s where the live album’s title comes from, if you’d been wondering), and we’ve put together a playlist to spotlight some of the highlights from all three of those eras. It’s also worth noting that the second of those lineups reunited in the mid-1980s to release a pair of albums – 1984’s Perfect Strangers and 1987’s The House of Blue Light – and then got back together again to record 1993’s The Battle Rages On.

Blackmore realised he was losing his grip on the band he formed, and quit to put together Rainbow with members of US rockers Elf, a former Deep Purple support band fronted by singer Ronnie James Dio. And now Blackmore was tapping up Jimmy Bain. When Bain put the phone down, a million thoughts raced through his head.
