WONDER WHEEL is the second album from this Haledon, New Jersey-based band. It shows wonderful growth from the group's fine debut. From the opening number, "Aeroplane," the 11 songs are sequenced and paced with a bracing sense of dynamics. Where Speed the Plough's first album introduced the group's lush and pastoral sound, this time out the group made a great step forward by creating a true album statement. This album features instrumental contributions from the Feelies, whose quiet relentlessness proves the perfect engine for these smartly hypnotic grooves.
