XTC. Профиль: Formed: Swindon, Wiltshire, United Kingdom, active 1977-2005. Drums And Wires (Single, Album, Comp, EP). 73 versions.
XTC finally shook themselves loose of Virgin Records in early 1998, freeing themselves to finally begin recording and releasing records. The first album out the door was not the long-anticipated sequel to Nonsuch, but Transistor Blast: The Best of the BBC Sessions, a four-disc set chronicling the majority of the group's BBC recordings, from White Music through Oranges and Lemons. Essentially, the earliest material - and much of this dates from the pre-stage fright years, meaning White Music to English Settlement - boasts identical arrangements to the recorded versions, but quite a few live cuts crackle with nervous energy which is undeniably exciting.
English Settlement is the fifth studio album and first double album by the English band XTC, released 12 February 1982 on Virgin Records. It reached number 5 on the UK Album Chart for an 11-week stay, and number 48 on the Billboard 200 album chart for a 20-week stay. The album's music style marked a turn towards the more pastoral pop songs that would dominate later XTC releases, with increased use of acoustic guitar and fretless bass

Transistor Blast: The Best of the BBC Sessions. Transistor Blast: The Best of the BBC Sessions is a boxed set by XTC released in 1998, just two months prior to Apple Venus Volume 1. Tracks on the first two discs are culled from various BBC radio sessions the group performed on over the years, notably for John Peel and David Jensen. Discs three and four are live recordings, the latter of which was previously released as BBC Radio 1 Live in Concert.
Transistor Blast is a heavy dose of early XTC, the Swindon, England, postpunk quartet who couldn't even spell "cello. Disc 3 features 1978 and '79 live takes of early singles such as "Life Begins at the Hop" and "This is Pop," as well as d often m tracks along the lines of "Danceband" and "Neon Shuffle.
