Social Distortion is the eponymous third studio album by the American punk rock band Social Distortion, released on March 27, 1990 through Epic Records, their first recording on that label. The album furthered the rockabilly, blues and country music experimentation of their previous album with songs like "Drug Train" and the radio hit "Ball and Chain". The focus on the alternative rock scene helped bring attention to Social Distortion

After the release of their 1992 album, Somewhere Between Heaven and Hell, Social Distortion took a four year break due to some lineup changes among other issues. But in 1996, Social D proved they were back with this album, White Light White Heat White Trash (parody/tribute to The Velvet Underground's White Light/White Heat). With this album, Social Distortion goes back to their hard rock and punk roots while maintaining little to no rockabilly sound that they have been known for with their previous three records (Somewhere Between Heaven and Hell, Social Distortion, Prison Bound)

With White Light, White Heat, White Trash, Social Distortion made a conscious attempt to cash in on the alternative "revolution" of the early '90s. Underneath the layers of glossy hard rock production, the band still hold fast to some of their punk roots, but too often they sound like a heavy hard rock band. In trying to appeal to a wider audience, Social Distortion have lost much of their identity on White Light, White Heat, White Trash.

This either sounds compressed or its mastered at too low a volume or the original wasn't mastered that well to begin with. The sticker on the shrink says 'original master' but I don't know if it's cut from the original master or remastered from the original master or what. The clarity is horrible, the bass is almost non existent and muffled, the music lacks punch making the songs sound weak. Some bad sibilance on the vocals. I imagine this sounds no better than a CD, or maybe the CD sounds better? Dunno...Either way, doesn't have the enjoyable sound that the vinyl format benefits from.

I have the original pressing (vinyl) on 550 Music, and it sounds phenomenal.

Why the hell doesn't this version include the Rolling Stones cover Under My Thumb? The original vinyl pressing had it, so it makes absolutely no sense.
Low_Skill_But_Happy_Deagle
it does, it is not listed but i am listening to it right now, i also thought it was not included but it is. I guess you can consider it a secret track for this edition
