If I was stuck on an island and I had to choose only one Detroit collection this would be the one. The sound is really deep and sometimes introvert but never over the line - Always with focus and direction. Of course Drexciyas, Claude Young and the rest have contributed with amazingly beautiful tracks but Kevin Saunderson sums it up with the the sample "on the move!" Detroit techno is a type of techno music that generally includes the first techno productions by Detroit-based artists during the 1980s and early 1990s. Prominent Detroit techno artists include Juan Atkins, Eddie Fowlkes, Derrick May, Jeff Mills, Kevin Saunderson, Blake Baxter, Drexciya and Mike Banks. The three individuals most closely associated with the birth of Detroit techno as a genre are Juan Atkins, Kevin Saunderson and Derrick May, also known as the "Belleville Three".

Techno was born in Detroit, largely sparked by the Belleville Three in the 1980s. It is a genre that uses electronic sounds for a futuristic style. While techno was later adopted by many artists in many different cities all over, it was originally born in Detroit, Michigan during the 1980s. It is a genre of EDM music and started as a fusion of funk and jazz with house and electronic. It often incorporates futuristic themes and has been seen in science fiction and noir films. The Belleville Three. After the release of this album, the duo split up to go their separate ways regarding their style of music. Around this time, the three high school friends Atkins, Saunderson and May began experimenting with electronic music in their basements. They got inspiration from bands such as Kraftwerk, Yellow Magic Orchestra, Parliament, Prince and Depeche Mode.
