Extince was born as Peter Kops in Oosterhout, The Netherlands. One of his biggest musical influences as a child was Creedence Clearwater Revival.

Extince was born as Peter Kops in Oosterhout, Netherlands. His first song in Dutch, "Spraakwater", was an immediate hit upon its release in 1995.

His first album, 1998's Binnenlandse Funk was a hit, and over the next ten years, Extince released a handful of albums, including 2001's Vitamine E, 2004's 2e Jeugd, 2005's De Avonturen Van De Exter-O-Naldus, and 2007's Toch?.
