The Rattlebones play with the same sort of laid-back swagger that Gilby Clarke and Izzy Stradlin have done throughout their solo careers. It isn’t the most original recipe, but it is the type of barroom boogie that rarely lets you down. I can’t say I am completely sold on the vocals, which I can only compare to a less hoarse version of Motorhead‘s Lemmy, but they do seem to fit the music perfectly. I absolutely love the rhythm and groove that The Rattlebones have managed to put to disc, but my complaint would be that the album doesn’t offer much variety and I for one would like to hear them speed things up and let loose more often. I don’t know what sort of rock scene there is in Switzerland, but The Rattlebones lay down a solid foundation for their country, displaying a sense of rhythm that few bands can claim to have mastered.

Rattlebones is a game about transforming dice. You start with standard six-sided dice, and throughout the course of the game you can remove sides and replace them with other sides that let you do all sorts of wonderful things. Every time you score points, you get closer to finding Rattlebones and, er, winning the game. Yes, winning! It's an experience to six-sided-die for! Game Summary Setup - Place the Rattlebones meeple at 55, 60, or 65 VP space (for 2-4 players). Players each get 3 d6 (black, white, gray) - basic d6 but the '1' is replaced by Rattlebones.

Rattlebones' was released in 1992, with Teresa Griffin joining on bass while Richard provides the rest of the instrumentation. Lorna's voice is clear and pure, immediately bringing forward thoughts of Kate Bush and Maryen Cairns. The music itself moves between straight pop, classical and even New Age, truly a Crossover band if ever there was one. The vocals and music combine well together, but it is the voice to which the listener is really drawn. All of the songs here are good, but nothing really stands out, and while enjoyable is probably the weakest album they released.

It was reissued in 1993 on CD with additional material compiled from cassette releases, international releases, and previously undistributed tracks. The cover art was designed by Steven R. Gilmore. Bites was certified gold by Music Canada on August 5, 1994.
