Their debut LP "Sons of Stone" was released in May 2011 by HoZac Records. On July 13, 2012 the People's Temple recorded a live set at Third Man Records in Nashville for a 7-inch split single with King Tuff. The event was an early show dubbed "The Rock N Roll Lunch at Third Ma. In October 2012 the band released "More For the Masses," its second full-length album. This album was also released on HoZac Records.

In a matter of 14-tracks, Sons of Stone manages to fit an unlimited amount of 60’s psychedelic rock into a compact 4. minutes of audio. The Lansing, Michigan band formed in 2007 by two sets of brothers – Alex Szegedy (guitar/vocals) and George Szegedy (drums) and Spencer Young (bass/vocals) and William Young (guitar/vocals) – and are known for their cosmically primal sound gained through their fervent listens to ‘60s psych, folk, and shoegaze while in high school. Notables on the album include, Where You Gonna Go, Stick Around, and the enigmatic closer, The Surf, a Rolling Stones inspired dirge that leaves us with its amped effects and a forecast closure. Other tracks on the album – which include the titled-track and the second track on the album, Led as One (Si vis pacem, para bellum) – has a controlled understated appeal that takes a couple of listens to get used to.

The People's Temple don't sound so much like a garage-rock band circa 2011 as they do a garage-rock band circa 1966. They aren't just vaguely reminiscent of Love or the Seeds or Out of Our Heads-era Stones, they're practically the spitting image, scuzzy and scrappy and, most of all, urgent. That last one they nail time and again on Sons of Stone, their rollicking debut.
