Louisiana Hayride was a radio and later television country music show broadcast from the Shreveport Municipal Memorial Auditorium in Shreveport, Louisiana, that during its heyday from 1948 to 1960 helped to launch the careers of some of the greatest names in American country and western music. Elvis Presley performed on the radio version of the program in 1954 and made his first television appearance on the television version of Louisiana Hayride on March 3, 1955.
The Louisiana Hayride radio show was broadcast from a theatre in Shreveport Louisiana for twelve years (1948 to 1960. They still have musicians performing there on the occasion. But it will always be connected most strongly with this groundbreaking radio programme. A popular music show, many hillbilly/ country, western swing, folk, rockabilly/ rock&roll artists were brought to national attention via this show . This excellent album provided me with an answer to a problem which was causing some concern. I am directing a production set in Louisiana in the 1980s. How do I set the mood before curtain-up and how do I maintain this during the show. These four CDs gave me all the material I needed to create the atmosphere needed. Not only that it's just plain 'great listening'. 6 people found this helpful.
