Orchestra: Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra. Conductor: Erich Kleiber. Composer: Beethoven, Ludwig van 3 and 5 with the Concertgebouw Orchestra sound wonderfully full and transparent. Yes, the recordings are mono, but that isn't necessarily a bad thing. Mono can sound full and atmospheric too, if the performances were captured on first-rate equipment by first-rate engineers, which these performances clearly were, and remastered with care, as these recordings decidedly are.
