The Readymen (2). Profile: Oregon-based political ska-punks. The Readymen (2). Factory (7", EP, Gre). Illumination Records.
The Hit Factory was a recording studio in New York City famous for its clientele. It closed on April 1, 2005; the original building is now the headquarters of American Musical and Dramatic Academy. However, other Hit Factory studio locations remained open, such as in Miami, Florida. The New York facility was purchased from Jerry Ragovoy by Edward Germano on March 6, 1975. From 1989 to 1993, the company also operated The Hit Factory London. This facility later became Sony's Whitfield Street Studio.
Dream Factory is an unreleased double LP project by Prince and The Revolution, recorded between 1982 and 1986. Prince's band, The Revolution, were invited to the studio to contribute to a majority of the material for the planned album, with the notable exceptions of "The Ballad of Dorothy Parker" and "Starfish & Coffee" (co-written by Susannah Melvoin). Prince had not had this level of collaboration before with the band; he and the Revolution by 1983 began working together increasingly.
