The Yummy Fur were an indie rock band from Glasgow, formed in 1992, and disbanded 1999. The band consisted of lead singer and guitarist John McKeown and a regularly changing line-up of other musicians. McKeown has since gone on to form the band 1990s. Their name was taken from the comic book Yummy Fur by Chester Brown. After leaving the band in 1997, Lawrence Worthington would drum for both The Male Nurse and The Fall-influenced art punk band The Country Teasers.

Club Beatroot was issued via Flotsam and Jetsam, a label Hubbert operated with The Poison Sisters' Sandy Black and Gordon Davidson from ska-punks the Amphetameanies (The Stanleys were Davidson's "indie-pop band"). RMH: "When I was 18 there was a government dole scheme called New Deal for Musicians. Sometimes you could get another tenner on your Giro if you went on these courses, and one of them was absolutely brilliant. Loads of early Yummy Fur – their 'Policeman' single, I produced that. For Joe' is for my ex father-in-law, 'Switches Part 2' was written when my ex-wife and I had split up but were still trying to have some kind of a relationship. And 'V' was written before we started dating. We met on a tour I did.

The Yummy Fur were an art rock/indie rock band which formed in Glasgow, Scotland in 1992. The band's only constant member was singer/guitarist John McKeown. After the band split in 1999, McKeown drifted through several short lived bands before forming the successful indie rock band 1990s in 2006, and two former members - Paul Thomson and Alex Kapranos - formed the popular alternative rock band Franz Ferdinand.

here u go: art punkers Yummy Fur mashed the stubborn repetition of The Fall with the barbed foolishness of more tongue-in-cheek outfits like Thinking Fellers and Half Man Half Biscuit into an angular brew, penning sharp, skinny guitar lines and then bashing away at them, as the lyrics turnt biting, pertinent and/or absurd. couldn't find the full album aywhere, but the individual songs are fire.
