Balkans are an American indie rock band from Atlanta, Georgia. Balkans formed in 2008 in the suburbs of Atlanta by childhood and high school friends. Frankie Broyles and Woodbury (Woody) Shortridge were childhood neighbors, and they started a band in the third grade. Woody met Stanley Vergilis in middle school, and the group of them met Brett Miller in their sophomore year in high school.
