Peter Lipa is one of the most prominent personalities in the Slovak jazz scene as singer, composer, and promoter. For 25 years he has been the promoter of the Bratislava Jazz Days festival. His roots are blues, soul and classical mainstream, but also performs in styles from dixieland to latin, jazz chanson and spirituals, funk or rock. The singers he feels mostly influenced by are Jimmy Rushing, Ray Charles, Al Jarreau, Joe Cocker or Bobby McFerrin.

Peter Lipa (born May 30, 1943) is a Slovak singer, composer and promoter of jazz, often referred to as the Father of Slovak Jazz. Lipa was born in Prešov, and has mainly worked in Czechoslovakia, the Czech Republic and Slovakia. His roots are blues, soul, and mainstream classical, and his work ranges from jazz standards to funk and rock. In 2003, he released an album called Beatles in Blue(s) featuring 16 Beatles songs. His interpretations of these songs are very individualistic as he and his arrangers and musicians aimed at creating the most unusual renditions they could imagine.

Peter Lipa Band (1994). Alongside continued collaboration with co -leader and guitarplayer Andrej Šeban. Recorded the album Naspäť na stromy (Back on Trees) (EWP1995) and Čierny Peter (Black Peter) (BMG 1997) with a clear tendency to his beloved music, a combination of jazz and blues. This project gives him more space to sing his original music, based on good choice of lyrics. The line up of the group are first-rate musicians: Juraj Tatar- keyb, Martin Gašpar b, Marcel Buntaj dr.
