Snake Charmer (Reprise). Jah Wobble's Invaders Of The Heart. UMG (от лица компании "Universal Music")" и другие авторские общества (8).

Front cover reads: "Francois Kevorkian presents Jah Wobble, The Edge, Holger Czukay. Labels and spine omit Francois Kevorkian. Recorded & mixed at The Fallout Shelter, London, except 'Sleazy', mixed at Sarm West. Snake Charmer' kicks it up a notch. For Jah Wobble, this one clearly pointed the way to Invaders of the Heart. And a certain demented part of the audience (myself included) turns this wacked out jammy album up loud and dances to it. You can hear the whole thing on YouTube, but a remaster is called for, nay, demanded! Good luck finding the vinyl.

The Snake Charmer "mini LP" brings together what one would think to be a fantasy lineup of experimental-pop artists; Jah Wobble, the Edge, Holger Czukay, Jaki Liebezeit, Animal, and François Kevorkian. The result is lead-thick and equally bland. Wobble 's signature repetitive and plodding bass, the Edge 's trademark chiming, delayed guitar, and Jaki Liebezeit 's creative drum and percussion work are utterly buried beneath Czukay 's wheezing dictaphone samples, french horn, guitar, and piano. On top of that, club elder-statesman François Kevorkian piles yet more polyrhythmic electro-nonsense, climaxing with what can only be described as the e-Reaper' cowbell; an element so unnecessary and distracting that it threatens to become the song's featured instrument.

R.I.P. Holger Czukay. Gracias por tu música. Tanta creatividad solo está al alcance de los genios.

I imagine this will be reassessed post haste now that we've lost both Jaki and Holger. This was an accidental score for about 4 dollars many moon ago in a favorite record store...picked up because of the ridiculous amount of talent on one ep...instantly moved me and has been a favorite ever since. That was 10 years or so ago. SOMEONE REISSUE THIS SO EVERYONE HAS THE CHANCE TO HEAR THESE AMAZING TRACKS!

anyone know what house track sampled hold on to your dreams (vocal loop "your the one your the one, hold me")

Agreed with majordeegans comment. How is it possible that no re-press have been made? This is essential "disco no disco"-music of the 80's. The best works of both Czukay and Jah Wobble in my opinion. Deep, trippy leftfield disco at it's best!

Pretty freaking criminal that Island hasn't re-released this puppy. (Hardly a mini album - it's much longer than the average Serge Gainsbourg LP.) Excellent work by all involved at a surprisingly early period in their careers (1983.) One would have thought the appearance of The Edge alone would bring this back, there has to be thousands of downloads waiting from U2 completists. It's obvious that lots of free playing and fun was had by all during these sessions. Maybe it was a relief to get away from all their primary bands at the time. 'Sleazy' seems to predate the sounds of Achtung Baby Edge guitar by a decade. 'It was a Camel' is a Holger Czukay workout, a hoot. 'Hold onto Your Dreams' is kind of weak but shimmers and aims at the sounds of the mid '80's around the corner. 'Snake Charmer' kicks it up a notch. The cover has a nice coarse parchment finish appropriate to the lovely primitive woodblock print.

Curious to know which one you mean as Spinner, the only Eno/Wobble collaboration I'm aware of, has been released on All Saints in both vinyl and CD formats. It does work better as an uninterrupted trip however. A truly wonderful meditative album indeed but not nearly as exciting as the utterly barking mad Full Circle!

Also an interesting Jah Wobble recording, is the one he made with Brian Eno, and that was never published on LP (Eno published it as a CD, after using the tape for many months for his morning jogging ( !!! ).

"it's much longer than the average Serge Gainsbourg LP" - it's also a lot more interesting, looking back and almost 35 years later, IMO :-) Not sure if you are familiar with all the stuff from those days, but there are a lot of gems to be picked up in the Celluloid Records catalog of those days (unfortunately, some titles only on K7). Cheers.

Why would they repress it...just buy an original copy...it's not even expensive
