Blaze of Glory is the 1982 debut album by Game Theory, a California power pop band fronted by guitarist and singer-songwriter Scott Miller. A remastered version with 15 bonus tracks was released in September 2014 by Omnivore Recordings. Prior to founding Game Theory, Scott Miller had been the lead singer and songwriter of Alternate Learning, which had issued an EP in 1979 and an LP in 1981. Alternate Learning was based in Sacramento and Davis, and frequently performed at .
Blaze of Glory is a clear signpost toward the hyperactively literate art pop of Game Theory's later albums. Scott Miller's songwriting is inconsistent, and the overall feel is along the lines of the herky-jerky synth pop of early new wave.
Distortion of Glory is a 1993 compilation album from the band Game Theory, a California power pop band fronted by guitarist and singer-songwriter Scott Miller. Issued on CD by Alias Records, it anthologizes the band's debut album, most of the songs from two subsequent EPs, and one rare single. The first Game Theory album was the Blaze of Glory LP, released on Rational Records in 1982. Due to a lack of funds to both press the album and print a jacket, a thousand copies of the LP were packaged in white plastic trash bags with Xeroxed cover art glued to each ba. .With Dave Gill replacing Michael Irwin on drums, two 12-inch EPs followed.
Game Theory was a power pop band which formed in 1982 in Sacremento, California, United States. The band's only constant member was singer and songwriter Scott Miller (vocals, guitar) who led the band through two major lineup changes before he disbanded the group in 1990. During its career, the band released five full length albums: "Blaze of Glory" (1982), "Real Nighttime" (1985), "The Big Shot Chronicles" (1986), "Lolita Nation" (1987) and "Two Steps from the Middle Ages" (1988).
Game Theory was an American rock band that originated in 1982 in Davis, California. Their music was played widely on student-run university radio stations, and they were one of the first wave of bands to be categorized in what was called the "college rock" genre during the 1980s.
Blaze of Glory has been out of print in its original form for decades; it was remixed and re-recorded as part of the similarly out-of-print 1993 compilation Distortion of Glory. The new reissue will include the full album remastered from the original tapes, plus 15 bonus tracks: four from Miller’s pre-Game Theory band Alternate Learning, and 11 from his archives (full tracklist below). In the reissue’s liner notes, Game Theory bass player Fred Juhos says: The first record foreshadows Scott’s other recordings admirably. Within it, I hear some of Scott’s freshest material
Distortion (Joseph Simmons album). Distortion (Game Theory EP). Distortion was the third release from Game Theory, a California power pop band fronted by guitarist and singer-songwriter Scott Miller. Released in 1984, this five-song EP was produced by Michael Quercio of The Three O'Clock. A remastered reissue of Distortion by Omnivore Recordings was released in November 2014 as a 10-inch EP on green vinyl, with four of the songs released on CD as part of Omnivore's reissued Dead Center compilation.
