Roger Bonham Smith (July 12, 1925 – November 29, 2007) was the Chairman and CEO of General Motors Corporation from 1981 to 1990, and is widely known as the main subject of Michael Moore's 1989 documentary film Roger & Me. Smith seemed to be the last of the old-line GM chairmen, a conservative anonymous bureaucrat, resisting change. However, propelled by industry and market conditions, Smith oversaw some of the most fundamental changes in GM's history
Located near historic Grand Central Station, The Roger Smith is a boutique hotel with the culture of an art gallery and the comfort of an aristocrat’s home. The Roger Smith Hotel captures the essence of what an Art Deco Hotel should be right from the entry sculpture to the room furnishings. It’s huge! It’s an apartment!.
How appropriate that Roger Smith chose to lead his relentlessly energetic, try-to-sit-still extravaganza My Colors with a slamming cover of George Duke's "Miss Wiggle," because the keyboardist perfectly captures all the jazz/funk blessings of Duke, along with a few of the pitfalls which tarnish many of the legend's recent projects.
