You've Made Me So Very Happy" is a song written by Brenda Holloway, Patrice Holloway, Frank Wilson and Berry Gordy, and was released first as a single in 1967 by Brenda Holloway on the Tamla label. The song was later a huge hit for jazz-rock band Blood, Sweat & Tears in 1969, and became a Gold record.
Brenda Holloway (born June 21, 1946) is an American singer and songwriter, who was a recording artist for Motown Records during the 1960s. Her best-known recordings are the soul hits, "Every Little Bit Hurts", "When I'm Gone", and "You've Made Me So Very Happy. The latter, which she co-wrote, was later widely popularized when it became a Top Ten hit for Blood, Sweat & Tears
Brenda’s only up-tempo A-side for Motown, ‘Just Look What You’ve Done’, shows that she was more than capable of handling this kind of material. To conclude, a few words from Brenda: While I was signed to Motown I was constantly in and out of the studio. I recorded so many different tracks that after a while I just lost count of what song was what or what the titles were. I would record a song and then never hear it again. In recent years many of my unissued Motown recordings have been released for the very first time, most of which I had completely forgotten about. I’m truly delighted that my name and work are still relevant today. When The Artistry Of Brenda Holloway album was first released in the UK in 1968, I always wished that the rest of the world could have been able to enjoy it as well. Now they finally can. The album contained all nine of Brenda's Tamla A-sides, five B-sides and two titles from her Every Little Bit Hurts LP, which are joined here by eight bonus titles from the Motown vaults. The Artistry album was issued in mono and stereo, but the stereo version is much rarer today, so we've gone with that, with one exception. One stand-out track that deserves special mention is After All That You've Done, a typically breathy gem from the pen of Smokey Robinson. 'I'm so very grateful to my loyal fans all around the world, especially those in the UK who have never stopped supporting my career,'' says Brenda. 'I'm truly delighted that my name and work are still relevant today. Brenda Holloway's rendition of "Just Another Lonely Night" rivals that of the Temptations. The background vocal arrangements and musical arrangements are just gorgeous accompanying Brenda's fabulous voice.
About Look What You’ve Done. Drake gives a legitimately touching tribute to his mother, Sandi, his grandmother Evelyn, and his Uncle Steve in this Take Care highlight. The low-key vibe set the song apart from most of the tracks on Take Care. Portions of this track were later sampled by the Michigan-based producer Sango on Just When I Need Most. Look What You’ve Done" Track Info. Written By 40, Chase N. Cashe & Drake. Recording Engineer 40. Mixing Engineer Noel Gadget Campbell.
