KRS-One (originally meant to be titled Hip-Hop Vs. Rap) is a great album, but crazy underappreciated. It may lack the spark and fun-factor of its predecessor Return Of The Boom Bap, but it holds at least as many awesome tracks. By 1989 Boogie Down Productions had already two very different, but equally classic albums out. This third effort only cemented BDP’s and KRS One‘s prominence in Hip Hop. With this album, KRS-One firmly established himself as Hip Hop’s n. conscious voice at the time. Some all-time KRS classics on this one like Why Is That, Bo! Bo!
Studio album by. KRS-One. is a compilation album by American MC KRS-One. It was released in November 2004 via Front Page Entertainment and is composed of a number of songs previously only released on white label 12" singles and B-sides with a few remixes and KRS-One cameos on other artist records. Many of the tracks have here been given different titles from their original releases.
On KRS-One, he always goes for the metaphorical jugular as usual, but KRS doesn’t just sit around spitting nonsense, either. As with his previous efforts, he divides the album into songs that display straight lyrical skill ( Rappaz . Dainja, ), conceptual experiments ( Hold ) and scathing politics ( Ah Yeah ). Even when he gets preachy, KRS remains listenable because he always pushes the edge that thrives on change. He manages to stay ahead of the deadly competition without sacrificing the elements of his character that made him a legend in the first place. The members of Mobb Deep weren’t.
KRS-One puts on his headphones, checks on his lead producer DJ Predator Prime, and Boom! Song after song speaks with clarity, strength and substance! Much of the subject matter on NOW HEAR THIS deals with the current social challenges of our time and documents the often ignored views of America’s other citizens. metic1 KRS One is the Greatest emcee/lyricist of all time!!! American Flag too many hot tracks on this album to pick just one. mrblade72. mrblade72 You are a pioneer of Conscious rap!
Album · 1995 · 14 Songs. By this time KRS-One was mentoring a younger generation of urban storytellers, some of whom appear here in the string of interludes (Method Man, Jeru the Damaja) and some of whom guest on the songs themselves (Fat Joe, Channel Live, Das Efx, Busta Rhymes). This album is very relaxed-almost as though KRS-One had simply to dip his mighty ladle into the creative juices of the culture he'd helped create and spoon the contents into this album
