Hailing from the same state as Currents, I have to admit I didn’t get what the Connecticut groove was until I put this on. There’s something fluid and deftly rhythmic about Currents’s music that I haven’t heard from any other band around here. of peace between two of the album’s noisiest songs. I’ll hand it to Currents that it’s an interesting experiment, but it doesn’t have a lot of replay value, and probably isn’t as affecting as it would have been if approached more traditionally. Life // Lost doesn’t quite stick the landing, either: Derelict is a great song in its own right, up until the album's other guest vocalist, Matthew Youkhana of rap-metal band Devastator, enters.

Currents found me with the song "Sleep Paralysis. A heavy hitting deathcore offering with no compromises. A fine song with overall catchy segments and great production if not overly unique. With the release of Life // Lost I found a much more dynamic album than anticipated. Songs such as Euphoria encapsulate a perfect semblance of melody with ferocious intensity. Drum work is tight and diverse, guitar work buzzes throughout each track and vocals take on a savage edge not similar to The Agony Scene's "The Darkest Red".
