Jazz music CD release from Brad Mehldau with the album The Art Of The Trio Volume 2: Live At The Village Vanguard. Released on the label Warner Bros Records. House on Hill (recorded October 2002 plus two tracks recorded March 2005) is the last release from this Mehldau trio, as drummer Jeff Ballard has afterward taken the place of Jorge Rossy. All original compositions by Mehldau, as in the 2002 recording Places, whose melodies are in some way recalled from a different and brighter perspective. As The Brad Mehldau Trio fascinated the jazz scene and the rest of the music world with their Art Of The Trio CD series in the wake of the trio blockbuster hits- The Art Of The Trio, Volume One (1997) and The Art Of The Trio. Volume Three: Songs (1998), they had release a terrific live CD in 1998 based on this wonderful album series.
Virtuoso pianist Brad Mehldau continues his Art of the Trio series with a two-CD set titled Art of the Trio, Vol. 5: Progression. Recorded live at the Village Vanguard in New York City, this volume is his most satisfying triad outing yet. The trio opens disc one with a swinging up-tempo rendition of "The More I See You" and, for over ten minutes, Mehldau improvises his swinging instincts with his well-organized rhythmic partners, drummer Jorge Rossy and acoustic bassist Larry Grenadier.
Recorded live at New York's famous Village Vanguard, Art of The Trio, Vol. 2 is full of surprises and curious delights.
