Mainly covers of Ray Charles's songs, the album included a Wonder and Paul composition, "Sunset". The Jazz Soul of Little Stevie was recorded next, an instrumental album consisting mainly of Paul's compositions, two of which, "Wondering" and "Session Number 112", were co-written with Wonder. Feeling Wonder was now ready, a song, "Mother Thank You", was recorded for release as a single, but then pulled and replaced by the Berry Gordy song "I Call It Pretty. In 1968 he recorded an album of instrumental soul/jazz tracks, mostly harmonica solos, under the title Eivets Rednow, which is "Stevie Wonder" spelled backwards. The album failed to get much attention, and its only single, a cover of "Alfie", only reached number 66 on the . Pop charts and number 11 on the US Adult Contemporary charts.
Aretha is the thirty-first studio album by American singer Aretha Franklin, originally released in 1986, on Arista Records. It is the third album with the Aretha title to be released by Franklin, following her 1961 album and 1980 album.
The Aretha Franklin Orchestra and the Aretha Franklin Celebration Choir are also slated to perform during the funeral, which is closed to friends and family. Former President Bill Clinton is among a list of high-profile speakers scheduled for the event. Other speakers will include former . Attorney General Eric Holder, Motown star and lifelong Franklin friend Smokey Robinson, the Rev. Jesse Jackson and record mogul Clive Davis. A public viewing for the late star will take place on 28 and 29 August at the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History in Detroit. Additionally, Aretha Franklin’s life and musical legacy will be celebrated with a free concert at the 6,000-capacity Chene Park Amphitheatre on the eve of her funeral, including performances by Gladys Knight, the Four Tops and Johnny Gill.
Soul singer Aretha Franklin has announced she is retiring this year, although she will record one final album with Stevie Wonder before calling time on her music career. The 74-year-old artist, who has spent more than 50 years in the limelight, said she feels exuberant about her plans to work on the album with Stevie before standing down. Aretha told Detroit TV station WDIV Local 4 host Evrod Cassimy: I must tell you, I am retiring this year. Aretha Franklin (Ian West/PA). I will be recording, but this will be my last year in concert.
Franklin, Aretha's father," Bland told Rolling Stone. I had to work with that a long time before I got it to perfection. But Bland, whose admirers range from Van Morrison to Jay-Z, was more than a blues shouter - on the quieter moments of signature tunes such as "I Pity the Fool" and "Turn On Your Love Light," he could just as easily adopt a smooth, uptown croon, complete with elegant vibrato, like his early hero Nat "King" Cole. The first time I remember hearing Stevie Wonder was when I heard him singing "Fingertips," in the movie Cooley High. I was in awe of this child's ability to see himself so clearly and be so sure of himself so young. Then I had to go back and discover Stevie Wonder as a whole. My uncle had an album collection, so I had seen Talking Book and Innervisions, but I knew the covers before I knew the music.

The tunes are an eclectic batch, and while "Baby, I Love You" was the hit of the album, Franklin turns in strong versions of "Satisfaction," "You Are My Sunshine," "Night Life," "Ain't Nobody (Gonna Turn Me Around)," and a quirky cover of "96 Tears" for good measure. An essential addition to her discography.
